European Law Moot Court Ghent University

Tijdens het academiejaar 2021-2022 zal de UGent opnieuw deelnemen aan de European Law Moot Court (ELMC). Heb je zin om je een aantal maanden intensief onder te dompelen in het Europees recht en om deel te nemen aan een simulatie van een zaak voor het Hof van Justitie van de Europese Unie? Dan ben jij misschien de persoon die onze universiteit tijdens deze Moot Court mag vertegenwoordigen!
Iedereen die meer wil weten over de ELMC is van harte welkom op woensdag 29 september 2021 om 16:30 in het Pleitlokaal 7.1, waar de ELMC-coaches van het Ghent European Law Institute (GELI) alle nodige informatie over deze pleitwedstrijd zullen geven.

Avez-vous envie de vous plonger intensivement pendant plusieurs mois dans le droit européen et de prendre part à une simulation d'une affaire devant la Cour de justice de l'Union européenne? Alors, vous êtes peut-être la personne qui pourra représenter notre université durant le Moot Court!
Tous ceux qui veulent en savoir plus sur le ELMC sont les bienvenus le mercredi 29 septembre 2021 à 16:30 dans Pleitlokaal 7.1, où les ELMC coaches du Ghent European Law Institute (GELI) fourniront toutes les informations nécessaires sur cette compétition de plaidoiries.

During the 2021-2022 academic Ghent University will partake again in the European Law Moot Court (ELMC). Are you interested in delving into EU law and acquiring expertise therein for the next couple of months? Are you interested in participating in a simulated case before the Court of Justice of the European Union? If so, you might be precisely the person we are looking for to represent Ghent University at the ELMC!
Anyone and everyone interested in the ELMC is warmly invited to the introductory session on Wednesday September 29th at 16:30 in Pleitlokaal 7.1 ('Pleading room'), during which the ELMC coaches from the Ghent European Law Institute (GELI) will give you all necessary information concerning the competition and the course!

De UGent organiseert dit weekend als eerste Vlaamse universiteit ooit een regionale finale van de prestigieuze pleitwedstrijd ELMC.

The Ghent European Law Institute is super excited and looking forward to the upcoming regional final in Ghent!

As concerns have been expressed regarding the coronavirus, our organisation wishes to reassure all participants travelling to Belgium this week. As of today, the Belgian health authorities remain vigilant yet communicate a very small risk for the disease to spread further in Belgium.

However, general hygiene precautions always apply for both yourself and those around you. These are measures that each and everyone of us can take:
1. Wash your hand regularly with soap and water.
2. Always use paper tissues when coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose. Dispose of the tissues immediately after use and thrown them away in a closed dustbin.
3. If you don’t have a tissue handy, sneeze or cough into the crease of your elbow.
4. Avoid close contact with anyone who has a fever or a cough.
5. If you have flu-like symptoms, stay at home.

If you are particularly vulnerable to infections, please consult your own GP to discuss any necessity for additional preventive measures.

Hand sanitizers will be distributed during the Regional Finals to help increase the effectiveness of these general precautionary measures.

THE EU-MERCOSUR AGREEMENT: BUSINESS AS USUAL OR LEGAL (R)EVOLUTION?

The aim of this student conference is to discuss the long-awaited agreement between the EU and Mercosur countries from various angles: the competence of the parties concerned, transparency issues, the effects on economy, environmental concerns and dispute settlement. The main question of the conference is to identify key lessons learnt by the contracting parties, including in light of previous EU FTAs, and it will be answered by the student panelists with active participation of the audience. This event constitutes a contribution of the students to the academic community.
