We always try to turn our activities into a learning opportunity. 🤓

This week, Thomas Smolders recorded the first Young Critics podcast to talk about the selected movies during the MOOOV Filmfestival 2021.

Being part of the Young Critics editorial team also meant that they not only participated in the podcast as guests, but also got a workshop on how to create one.

During their time on the team, they will get workshops on several topics like creating social content and video essays. Becoming a digital content creator while watching and talking about the best new independent movies, how cool is that?

The MOOOV festival takes place until May 3rd, so you can still check out the remaining program and book your tickets online. 🎬

In other words: Build your following through a personal platform. Stop relying solely on big social media platforms to connect with your community. Remember MySpace? Or Vine? It's easy to lose your following when platforms disappear. 😩

Social media platforms should rather be used to guide your followers to a place where you can connect with them on a more personal level. Maybe you have a newsletter they can subscribe to? Or a website or app they can create an account on? This will create a higher return on investment and a loyal following in the long term. 🌐 You can also use this as an archive for the content you've created to safeguard your work!

📱 An example for music lovers: SuperPhone. By collecting fans' phone numbers on the platform along with data like the countries or cities they live in, artists can contact their fans anytime they have a gig or event nearby. This one-on-one interaction provides a personalized experience and makes fans feel like a part of the artist's close circle. Win-win!

Imagine landing your dream job without having to go through the hassle of a dozen job interviews... Well, sometimes you can! 🤩

One of our recent graduates Pauline De Vlieger snagged a job at Parlez, an influencer marketing and PR agency where she did her internship (you go girl!). 🎉 She went from intern to Account Executive in only a few months. Not bad at all if you ask us.

During her internship Pauline was in charge of contacting influencers, creating online campaigns, writing blog posts and even creating visuals with Photoshop.

“The assignments during the course were a great exercise for the tasks that you will encounter throughout your internship and during your job as well. During the postgraduate course, the theory is put into practice, so that you already have experience on the topics when you step into the work field.”
