🌟 Reflecting on Yesterday's Panel: Newcomer Adolescents' Wellbeing and Belonging at School 🌟
Yesterday, we had the privilege of hearing from three incredible speakers—Aimee Kelley, Sarah Devos, and Tim Poelman—as they explored the vital topic of integrating newcomer adolescents into education system.
Aimee and Tim brought forward practical insights on how language courses play a key role in the integration process, providing newcomers with essential tools to navigate their new environment. Their work highlights the importance of language in fostering inclusion.
Sarah, on the other hand, shared her fascinating academic research, offering a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by newcomer adolescents in host societies. Her insights helped bridge the gap between theory and practice, giving us a more comprehensive view of this complex issue.
The combination of these perspectives created a meaningful conversation on how we can better support the wellbeing and belonging of newcomer adolescents in our schools. It's clear that a collaborative approach—balancing practice and research—is key to addressing the challenges of integration and creating an environment where every student feels at home.
Thank you to Aimee, Sarah, and Tim for sharing your expertise and inspiring us all!
