As a corporate finance banker active in global markets, I chose The Parthenon and Its Impact in Modern Times because it shows that globalisation is ancient, not modern. Trade, strategic resources, and ideas flowing across the Mediterranean fueled Greek prosperity and institutions—and laid foundations for modern civilisation. Last week, participants in our AI for Business programme got their answer.

Arne Vandendorpe from ML6 brought more than a keynote, he brought a humanoid robot trained through reinforcement learning and imitation learning. A live demo of physical AI in action with real training challenges, including a hands-on brainstorm about what AI robotics could mean for their own business case.

Yesterday, our Open House in Ghent welcomed a vibrant group of participants who wanted more than just information – they wanted to experience how we learn at Vlerick. Through four interactive tracks, they explored some of the key questions shaping today’s careers and organisations.

🔹 With Veroniek De Schamphelaere, participants reflected on the choices and forces that shape a career over the next 10 years.

🔹 Carine Peeters unpacked what separates strong strategies from mediocre ones in a world that refuses to stand still.

🔹 Steve Muylle explored how AI is reshaping strategy and how organisations can turn technological disruption into opportunity.

🔹 Miguel Meuleman challenged participants to adopt the entrepreneurial mindset – questioning the status quo, observing opportunities and experimenting with new ideas.

During a Business Tour at Living Tomorrow, our Masters in Marketing joined Vlerick Professor Frank Goedertier for an inspiring workshop on how customer interface technology is reshaping our lives and what that means for business leaders and marketers. From self-driving bikes and tractors to AI-controlled drones, cobots, voice cloning, AR and AI gaining emotional intelligence, students explored real innovations shaping tomorrow’s markets. Through scenario thinking, they reflected on how these technologies could impact both the near and distant future.

What makes someone leave Belgium and start a new chapter in Los Angeles? For Sarah Braet, the answer emerged gradually. During her time at Vlerick Business School, she did more than deepen her strategic knowledge. She learned how to negotiate with confidence, lead through change and understand the human side of transformation, especially in complex and uncertain environments. Those lessons proved valuable beyond the classroom. They influenced how she approached leadership, built trust with diverse teams and made sense of career decisions that felt uncertain at the time. Her story is not about a sudden leap, but about how learning can shape mindset and direction, long before a new destination appears.
