Formula Electric Belgium Formula Electric Belgium is a team of (engineering) students that design and build electric racecars! Formula Electric Belgium is not just a racing team.

Formula Electric Belgium unites a group of motivated engineering students from different campuses of KU Leuven University and Thomas More University College in Flanders, Belgium. The Formula project offers the team members a working environment which resembles to a realistic case, in which they have to apply all their technical and soft skills. Apart from enhancing these skills and bringing their education to a higher level, the practical goal of the project is to design, build and drive an electric Formula Student race car. In the process, they are joined by several partners who help realize the building of the car. After a year of development and manufacturing processes, the team will participate in several international events of the Formula Student competition. The project offers a platform in which technological partners can showcase and test their latest innovating developments. The team wants to share the acquired knowledge and experiences with other students by developing informative and educational packages to promote engineering technology and science with a focus on electrical mobility.

Meet the Formula Electric Belgium team for the 2026–2027 season! ⚡🏎️

Our new team of KU Leuven and Thomas More students has officially started work on our next fully electric race car. This season we’re taking a big step forward, starting with a brand-new carbon fibre monocoque.

Over the coming months, we’ll take you behind the scenes of everything it takes to get a car on track: from powertrain and battery to chassis, composites, aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics and electronics, all leading up to the Formula Student competitions next summer.

A new team, a new season and a whole new car to build. Let’s go! 🏁

Huge thanks to Nebim Volvo Trucks BE & Leren met Nebim for the support!
During our competitions this season, Nebim provided us with a van to transport our equipment, tools, and our TMC Zenith safely from A to B. Reliable transport makes all the difference for a student team on the road.
We're grateful for partners like Nebim who help us keep building, testing, and racing.

🇫🇷 Formula Student France Recap 🏆

What a way to finish our 2026 Formula Student season! 🏁

The competition started off strong, with scrutineering going remarkably smoothly and the car ready for dynamics with plenty of time to spare. The French weather had other plans though… A massive storm hit the competition site and pretty much destroyed our campsite, forcing us to trade racing for some unexpected damage control. ⛈️⛺

Once dynamics started, the manual disciplines didn’t go quite as smoothly. A combination of technical issues and unfortunate DQs meant we couldn’t always show the full potential of the car. Nevertheless, we kept pushing and completed Skidpad, Acceleration and Autocross.

Away from the track, we had a major highlight as well. After a strong Engineering Design presentation, we made it into our first static final of the season. Going up against the best teams in the ED finals, we managed to secure an incredible 2nd place in Engineering Design! 🥈

And then came the Driverless Cup. 🤖

🥇 1st Driverless Skidpad
🥇 1st Driverless Autocross
🥇 1st Driverless Trackdrive
🏆 1st Overall Driverless Cup

We also became the first team in FS France history to complete Driverless Trackdrive!

Unfortunately, our competition ended on a bittersweet note. After a promising start to Endurance, a brake-related issue triggered the BOTS and forced us to retire in the third lap.

It wasn’t the ending we had hoped for, but after a week of unpredictable weather, technical challenges and plenty of Formula Student chaos, we leave France with five trophies: a P2 in Engineering Design, three Driverless discipline victories and the overall Driverless Cup win! 🏅

An unforgettable way to close out our 2026 season. 💚

Merci, Formula Student France! 🇫🇷

🏁 FS Spain Day 5-7 Recap 🏁

Time for the Dynamic Events! 🏎️💨

Day 5:
We kicked off the day with Driverless Skidpad, successfully completing our first-ever run on the first attempt! ✅ Right after came Manual Skidpad, where we clocked 4.9s, beating our previous best by 0.2 seconds ⏱️. In the afternoon, TMC Zenith finished its first Driverless Autocross. We then nailed Manual Acceleration with a time of 3.5s, smashing our best-ever time by 0.2 seconds, a record that didn’t last long, as we beat it again in the nighttime Acceleration Event with a 3.4s run! ⚡🌙

Day 6:
Day 6 started with setting a time in DV Acceleration, followed by becoming one of only 4 cars to complete Trackdrive! 🔥 In the afternoon, Autocross was up next , but a cooling leak forced us to stay longer in the pits and miss our first slot 💧. We managed to fix it just in time to rush into the queue before the event ended, but as we joined, the weather turned to rain ☔ and the event was interrupted.

Day 7:
Overnight, it was announced Autocross would resume at 8am. Day 7 started early, with just enough time for one safe lap before jumping straight into Endurance 🏁. The 22km Endurance was a constant battle against the heat 🔥, our drivers had to keep the battery temperature down while pushing as hard as possible. We were even joined by our main sponsor TMC_Belgium , cheering us on throughout the race 🙌. That night at the Award Ceremony, we claimed our 2nd Efficiency title BACK-TO-BACK! 🏆🏆
