Here you can keep up-to-date about research, seminars and other news from the Division of Bioeconomics at KU Leuven. The Division of Bioeconomics has three main research lines:
1. poverty reduction and economic growth in poor countries and the sustainable and efficient use of natural resource to realize pro-poor growth;
2. the link between economic and ecological models by refining functions of so

cio-economic drivers that are used to model resource use change and changes in ecosystem services, and how institutions (policy decisions and regulations) affect this link. Our staff contributes to the Bachelor and Master in Bio-Science Engineering and in Geography. We offer advice to both national and international NGOs, governmental agencies and organizations.

The Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences is proud to have a very motivated and creative EcoTeam. They come up with ideas to increase sustainability on campus. One of their eye-catching realizations is the Geogarden, a meeting place with small vegetable patches, flowers, room for pollinators and space to relax in the sun. We assume that all members of the department are longing to see each other again in this beautiful garden.
However, the EcoTeam does a lot of other useful and interesting stuff as well and they are happy to share these with you on their page and the Twitter account.

Since 2018 the collectively created garden offers a place to meet, eat and relax to researchers and students from different orientations who share the love and passion for gardening and relaxing in a flourishing green environment.
