The Research Unit of Archaeology, Art History and Musicology warmly invites you to the lecture “9000 years ago: the archaeology, art and music of Catalhoyuk” by Professor Ian Hodder (Stanford University).
This talk will describe the results of 25 years of excavations at Neolithic Catalhoyuk in central Anatolia. New analyses regarding diet and aDNA have allowed a fascinating insight into the social organization of this early village. The site is famous for its wall paintings and we have been able to glean much information about this 'art'. The paintings also show dance and possible musical instruments, and acoustical archaeology has attempted to build a picture of the soundscapes of the village.
