Imiscoe IMISCOE (International Migration Research Network) is the largest interdisciplinary research network in the field of migration and diversity studies.

It currently consists of 71 research institutes from different countries and disciplines. Research Associate (Post-doc, f/m) in Regional Studies, Migration Studies, or Communication Sciences at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER).

The Research Associate will be employed as part of the "Populism in the European Cross-Border Space: Discourses of Right-Wing Populists on Migration within Regional Europe" (PECS) research project. The project aims to study the political discourses produced by European right-wing populist parties regarding migration at the scale of cross-border regions.

📣 REMINDER | Call for papers | 2027 IMISCOE Spring Conference in Toronto

The event, organised by the Toronto Metropolitan University and the Global Migration Institute, accepts paper proposals that critically interrogate the digital transformations shaping both migration governance and the practice of migration research.

The event takes place between 10-12 March 2027, on-site, in Toronto, and online. The 2027 IMISCOE Spring Conference is open to migration scholars from all disciplinary backgrounds, geographical regions, and career stages.

❗ The deadline for submissions is 26 June, at 23:59 EDT (Toronto time zone). when submitting proposals, applicants must choose their intended mode of participation (on-site or online). Applicants will be informed about the decisions regarding their submissions by early September 2026.

📚 MiReKoc – BU CFD International Summer School

The event, jointly organised by the MiReKoc, Migration Research Center at Koç University and the Boston University Center on Forced Displacement (CFD) under the theme "Crossing Regions, Shaping Lives: African Migration Corridors in Global Perspective", brings together historical, contemporary, and comparative perspectives on African migration dynamics through the analytical lens of migration corridors.

The International Summer School will include lectures, plenary sessions with keynote speakers, participant-led sessions for presenting research projects, and field trips. Applications are open to graduate students, PhD candidates, early-career researchers, policy analysts, NGO and international organisation practitioners, and junior professionals.

📣 IMISCOE PhD School

The 2026 IMISCOE PhD School, hosted by the Center for Migration and Societal Change - Eurac Research in Bolzano, Italy, was a success! This year’s edition brought together a diverse group of early-career researchers, who had the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions and activities under the theme “Peripheries in Motion: International Migration and Migrant Inclusion beyond the Urban Spheres”.

🚀 While the 2026 edition has come to an end, interested early-career researchers should stay tuned for the next edition. The 2027 IMISCOE PhD School will take place at Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) in Barcelona and will be dedicated to the theme “Regional Migration Studies: Dynamics of Human Mobility, Governance and Socioeconomic Transformations”.
