Today, we celebrated the official opening of Blocks B and C of Skaptopara III Residence Hall, adding 310 student places and more than 7,400 square meters of new residential and shared space to our campus in Blagoevgrad.
AUBG President Dr. J.D. Mininger, Blagoevgrad Mayor Metodi Baykushev, AUBG Board of Trustees member and alumnus Julian Milev ('99), and Project Director Velina Zankova, PMP® cut the ribbon together, joined by students, colleagues, partners, and guests.
The project is the result of two years of work and the contribution of many people and organizations.
The American University in Bulgaria and UniCredit Bulbank partnered to finance the construction of Skaptopara III Blocks B and C, supporting this significant expansion of AUBG’s on-campus housing. Dimtcho Tilev developed the architectural design; Kalistratov Group served as general contractor; and Universal Stroy, together with Termosyst, Belitech, VAS Pro, Rogvian, Mebelor, and Stil M, contributed their expertise across different areas of construction. Global Management, led by Petko Lozanov, provided project coordination, oversight, and governance throughout the process.
AUBG Board of Trustees members Julian Milev ('99), Dobrin Staikov ('96), and David Cleave provided continued support and guidance, alongside the AUBG Project Team, whose work helped bring the project from plans to a fully operational student residence.
With modern rooms, dedicated study and common spaces, Energy Class A efficiency, solar panels, and upgraded infrastructure, the new wings are designed not simply as a place to live, but as a place where the AUBG experience continues beyond the classroom.
Opening during AUBG’s 35th anniversary year, Blocks B and C connect an important milestone in our history with the generations still to come.
Most importantly, they are already home.
