Next month, from June 14th to 18th, we have an appointment at the 5th IWA Congress, Aggression in the Theory of Maturational Processes.

The event will be online and will issue a certif**ate for all subscribers. There will be no simultaneous translation, but the texts of the international speakers will be previously translated and forwarded before the event.

5th IWA Congress | Aggression in the Theory of the Maturational Processes

In the year 2023 we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the foundation of the IWA by Professor Zeljko Loparic. The International Winnicott Association (IWA) is a worldwide academic civil entity, whose purpose is to publicize, promote and continue Winnicott’s legacy. This legacy is compounded by his extraordinary original work and also by his appeal to scholars of his work to continue the revolution he started in psychoanalysis.

In these ten years, with the participation of affiliated groups from different countries – Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, China, England, France, Greece, Israel, Italy and Portugal – the IWA held four International Congresses, in which several Winnicottian theses were presented and debated.

The Fifth International Winnicott Association Congress will be held in São Paulo, Brazil, from the 14th to the 18th of June 2023. This biennial Congress is sponsored and funded by the IWA and the Brazilian Institute of Winnicottian Psychoanalysis (IBPW), which will organize the meeting.

The general theme of the 5th Congress is:

Aggression in the Theory of the Maturational Processes

The main objective of this Congress is to explore the new theory of aggression proposed by Winnicott, which is one of the pillars of his paradigm shift. For him, aggression, like all other human dimensions, needs to be experienced throughout maturational processes, in the presence of a good enough environment, in order to be integrated into the self, otherwise it will remain dissociated, complicating the life of the individual and the life in society.

BODY AND PSYCHO-SOMATICS IN WINNICOTT
This book surveys and reflects upon one of D.W. Winnicott’s most decisive contributions to the study of human nature and to psychoanalysis, namely, his notion that human nature is essentially psycho-somatic and that the cohesion between psyche and soma is not a given, but is rather an achievement of maturation – an attainment that depends on environmental care, especially that provided to the infant in early life. Psycho-somatic existence is ingrained in every aspect of Winnicott’s thought; his psychoanalysis is truly incarnate, as the author of this book, Vera Regina Ferraz de Laurentiis, shrewdly says.

LANÇAMENTO
La Teoria dei Processi Maturativi di Winnicott: Una Lettura Unitaria dell'Opera Winnicottiana

Em fevereiro de 2022, haverá, em Roma, o lançamento da tradução italiana do livro A Teoria do Amadurecimento de D. W. Winnicott, de Elsa Oliveira Dias, sob o título: La Teoria dei Processi Maturativi di Winnicott, acrescido de um subtítulo: Una Lettura Unitaria dell'Opera Winnicottiana.
O livro será editado pela Franco Angelli, uma renomada editora italiana, que tem tradicionalmente um setor dedicado a textos de psicanálise. A tradução está a cargo Susanna Guida e Veronika Garms, fundadoras do Grupo Winnicott de Roma da International Winnicott Association (IWA) e herdeiras do legado intelectual de Andreas Giannakoulas, que, em 1976, promoveu a criação do Instituto Winnicott de Roma.
Com essa tradução, o livro de Elsa Oliveira Dias, lançado no Brasil em 2003, que está em sua 4ª edição (2017) e que teve em 2013 uma edição em espanhol, em 2016 uma edição inglesa (pela Karnac Books) e em 2020 uma edição chinesa, f**a consagrado como clássico mundial em estudos winnicottianos.
E ainda até o final de 2021 a tradução para o francês será finalizada e deverá sair também em 2022.
