Título: The diagnostic power of heliospheric radio emissions
Dra. Nicolina Chrysaphi

Resumo: Radio waves originating from both solar and extra-solar sources are ubiquitous in the heliosphere. The most intense radio emissionsin our solar system are excited by semi-relativistic electrons accelerated into the heliosphere by solar flares and shocks driven by coronal mass ejections. These radio emissions, known as solar radio bursts, are highly-susceptible to anisotropic scattering off small-scale heliospheric density fluctuations. While this significantly complicates their analysis, interpretation, and our ability to extract the true physical properties from observations, it also makes solar radio bursts a powerful and unique diagnostic of the heliospheric environment. In this talk, I will show how the combination of advanced radio-wave propagation simulations and observations from both ground- and space-based radio instruments have facilitated recent advancements in the quantification of radio-wave propagation effects and the subsequent characterisation of the heliospheric environment. I will highlight results from multiinstrument, multi-vantage studies, showcasing the diagnostics enabled by observing radio waves across several longitudes and a wide range of frequencies. Finally, I will give an overview of the publiclyaccessible, open-source outputs of our recent workshop “Bridging Gaps in Heliospheric Radio Data Analyses”, aiming to enhance the accessibility, standardisation, and usability of heliospheric radio data.
