The fellowship, led by international experts including professors from University of California, Berkeley and the SubOptic Foundation, would introduce Shayanne to the hidden foundations of the internet and the importance of building resilient digital systems for the Caribbean. Through lectures, discussions and collaborative projects, she would work alongside other emerging leaders to tackle challenges affecting regional connectivity and technological growth.
Friends, classmates and the entire UWI Global Campus, Belize proudly congratulated her achievement, recognizing it as not only a personal success but also a proud moment for Belize. Shayanne’s selection demonstrated that Belizean students can compete successfully on international platforms and contribute meaningfully to the future of global digital infrastructure.
As she prepared for the fellowship’s kickoff session in May 2026, Shayanne reflected on the journey ahead with determination and gratitude. She knew this opportunity was more than just a programme, it was a chance to represent Belize, strengthen Caribbean resilience, and inspire other young people to dream beyond borders. 💐🙏
