Chan Chich Archaeological Project Welcome to the page for the Chan Chich Archaeological Project (CCAP). The CCAP is a researc Houk of Texas Tech University (TTU).

The Chan Chich Archaeological Project (CCAP) is directed by Dr. Brett A. The project includes a research component and an archaeological field school for undergraduate and graduate students. The field school is run as a Study Abroad program through TTU and offers between 6 and 9 hours of Anthropology credit. The CCAP conducts archaeological excavations at Chan Chich and explores the forest surroun

ding the ruins. In all cases, the excavations are directed at specific research questions and in many cases contribute to graduate student thesis projects.

CCAP is back in the field! Apologies for the lack of updates, but we are wrapping up our second week in Belize with five more to go. To whet your appetite, here is a photo of Tomás Gallareta Cervera and Bridgette Degnan inspecting some ancient Maya graffiti last night at Chan Chich. Photographing the graffiti at night allows you to manipulate the light source to bring out more detail than you can see during the day.
