"It was an incredible opportunity to participate in the UFV Lead program as a L3 Senior mentor last year. I was searching for an additional volunteer opportunity that felt fulfilling, and challenged me to be more engaged and connected on campus. UFV Lead was a perfect fit!

Through this program, I had the opportunity to explore and grow my leadership skills such as public speaking and teamwork. I was also challenged to develop new skills such as mentorship, event planning, and addressing controversy. I feel I grew immensely as a conscientious student and leader thanks to the emphasis on diversity and inclusivity that is core to the Lead program.

But, UFV Lead wasn’t all learn and no play! I was given the chance to attend fun social events throughout the year, and I became close friends with my mentor peers, and participants from all program levels!

Participating in UFV Lead supported me in accessing other opportunities, such as winning scholarship money and successfully applying for other volunteer and paid positions.
