The Xaverian is the official student newspaper and online publication of Saint Francis Xavier University. Originally called Excelsior, the newspaper began as a monthly journal of literary essays and campus news founded in 1895 by M.A. As the only official student newspaper of StFX we have always sought to act as a voice for the students of the university, while providing informative, fair, and acc

urate reporting. The Xaverian currently publishes fifteen print edition’s during the academic year, with copies distributed on Thursday’s across the university campus and town of Antigonish. The Xaverian is editorially autonomous. Our offices can be found on the first floor of Bloomfield Centre, on the StFX campus. The Xaverian is a proud member of the Canadian University Press (CUP), North America’s largest cooperative of student newspapers. The Xaverian regularly sends delegates to regional and national CUP conferences (ARCUP and NASH). Opinions expressed in The Xaverian are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of The Xaverian or the Xaverian Weekly Publications Board.
