CJLX-FM – 91X – is a CRTC-licensed campus and community FM radio station serving an audience throughout the Bay of Quinte area. 91X has a unique job opportunity for an individual who is outgoing, community-minded, has a base knowledge of radio station operations and a passion for working with people and mentoring. 91X has been approved for funding by the Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC) to hire, for a one-year position, an individual to fulfill the roll of Volunteer Coordinator & Producer. Please note there is no guarantee of employment beyond the noted completion date.
Hours: 35 hours/week (52 weeks, 2 weeks paid vacation)
Remuneration: $20.00/hr

YOU SHOULD HAVE:
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Working knowledge of basic radio skills, including production skills such as digital editing and announcing.
• Diploma in Radio Broadcasting or Journalism, and/or prior experience an asset
• Computer skills and able to effectively use basic office software such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to navigate social media platforms.
• Familiarity with radio automation software and Adobe Audition.
• Ability to use content creation skills to plan and prepare a radio program.
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
• Ability to set priorities and manage workload without supervision
• Ability to train, collaborate, plan events and make presentations.
• Familiarity with CRTC radio regulations.
• Self-motivation and be able to employ skills in creative thinking and problem solving.
• Skills at time management and ability to meet deadlines.
• Flexible schedule as some evening and/or weekend work is possible.
• Enthusiasm to work in a dynamic and diverse workplace made up of staff, students, faculty and other volunteers
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop strategies for the recruitment of new volunteers both from the Loyalist College student body and the community-at-large.
• Conduct outreach to local individuals, organizations and service groups to solicit interest in contributing to programming.
• Develop training sessions for new volunteers to prepare them for on-air hosting duties by familiarizing them on CRTC obligations, 91X music polices, announce format and Code of Conduct.
• Mentoring new volunteers in program development, production and on-air hosting.
• Maintain a database of volunteer contact information and update as needed.
• Track volunteer hours.
• Develop volunteer application and guide.
• Attend events and develop strategies, on campus and in the community, to heighten awareness of 91X and enhance the recruitment of volunteers.
• Prepare and host up to five weekly on-air programs during a priority daypart on 91X.
• Production of some volunteer-hosted programming, commercials, station promos and public service announcements as required.
• Assist with the annual reception for the recognition of volunteers.
