A reminder that despite the fact the Loyalist Radio Broadcasting program is no more, the legacy of our grads continues. Chris Koppin graduated in the early 90's and was here the first year CJLX went on the air. For the past 19 years, he's been with Durham Radio and on Tuesday, marked show #6000. Most of the time with Durham, he has been the afternoon drive host on Oshawa's CKDO 1580AM/107.7FM. Congrats Chris!

Hey radio folks! Sitting here at the 91X setup outside the college for the 2nd day of convocation ceremonies.
Feeling a little verklempt that this is the first year we don’t have a graduating radio broadcasting class and this is the last graduating class for the Journalism program. Times are changing, but 91X is still rocking & managing to pump out student & community-produced programming 24/7. Have you joined our new “Friends of 91X” Facebook group yet? If not, do it! If youre in the Quinte atea, maybe consider coming back as a volunteer. We’ve had a few rejoin us recently.
Always good to stay in touch!
~Greg

Hey folks! Here's an invitation to join the new Friends of 91X Facebook group. As you may know, Meta blocked most radio pages about a year-and-a-half ago. While many have been restored, most in the campus and community radio sector remain locked out. This new Facebook group will keep you up to date on happenings with your old pal and alma mater, 91X. Help us get those numbers up! Search "Friends of 91X" and join!

End of one era and start of the next. All existing studios are being gutted to make room for Nuclear Medicine and Health/Nursing space. 91X remains a vital part of Loyalist College with a gorgeous new production suite and a temporary on air studio in the Digital Media Centre. The new home for the 91X control room (now with windows!) is still under construction!

For my audio peeps I'm SO HAPPY to see this! The original SSL X-Orcism was my favorite plug in of all time. Halloween in a plug in and it was free. But, only 32-bit, so for the last decade I've had to use a bridger. Now released is SSL X-Orcism II and it's 64-bit so no more bridger! Still free and still more fun than anything. It's echo, reverb, pitch change, and SFX all in one. VST/3, and AAX.

The SSL X-Orcism II: Voices from the Crypt plug-in is a FREE Halloween-themed voice changer, including delay, pitch shifter, reverb, and noise generator. Ideal for sound design, game development, music production, or any project that requires a touch of the supernatural, X-Orcism II is a production....

... And that's a wrap! With final grade entry, this marks the end of the Loyalist College Radio Broadcasting Program as we know it. The program is under suspension, there are no current or incoming students. Yet to be decided is what comes next, and that discussion remains to be had. With demographics and location, the program was not sustainable. Sad to see it go, but it was the only decision. 91X FM Alternative Radio is going to continue, and faculty is off to teach other things. Thanks to all the grads and students and faculty over the years! To quote Willie Nelson, via the late Dandy Don Meredith ... "Turn out the lights, the party's over ...".

JOB OPENING IN OTTAWA!
Anyone looking for a Production job in Ottawa? I got a message this morning from their VP looking for a Producer. He says the work atmosphere is really good, but it's a busy job ... that would be normal for industry now. It is a Rock format and the pay is "$40K-ish" per year.
I will add that the VP is one of my former PD's and is great to work for. I've met one of the co-owners of the company and they are enthusiastic radio people.
Get in touch with Craig and I'll put you in the right direction.
