Igniting the Passion for Learning

Learning is one of the greatest gifts God has given humanity. It awakens the mind, sharpens the spirit, and expands our capacity to understand God, ourselves, and the world around us. Throughout history, great thinkers and theologians have emphasized that a life devoted to learning is a life devoted to growth, purpose, and transformation.

The ancient Philosopher Socrates famously declared, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” His words remind us that learning is not merely about acquiring information; it is about examining truth, questioning assumptions, and seeking wisdom. Learning pushes us beyond complacency and invites us into deeper understanding.

Similarly, the influential Theologian Augustine of Hippo believed that the pursuit of knowledge ultimately leads us closer to God. Augustine taught that the human heart longs for truth, and that truth finds its fullest expression in the knowledge of God. For him, learning was a sacred journey—one that shaped both the intellect and the soul.

Centuries later, the great Reformer Martin Luther King emphasized the importance of education so that believers could understand Scripture for themselves. He believed that learning empowers individuals to grow in faith, discern truth, and contribute meaningfully to society. Education, therefore, becomes a tool not only for personal advancement but also for spiritual maturity and service.

In the same spirit, Christian education today continues to equip believers to think critically, lead faithfully, and serve effectively in a rapidly changing world. It was a pleasure to join colleagues at the Kingswood University, Sussex at the inauguration of their 13th President - Rev. Dr Ricky A. Christman on the 17th October 2025 at their prestigious Saunders Irving Chapel.

The University also celebrated her 80th anniversary and the goodness of the Lord in enabling them to come debt-free on the 14th October. It was indeed a day of triple celebration and I was greatly delighted to be part of it.

It was also an honor to connect with Dr Kevin Osborn of Oklahoma Wesleyan University and several other anointed Intellectuals at the occasion.

Wishing Dr Ricky an impactful tenure and from TR3C we look forward to greater levels of collaborations that will mutually benefit our institutions. Below are some of the highlights of the occasion in pictures.
