As the semester ends, the 1st thing I want to say is congratulations on making it through another semester. While some still have exams and final projects to complete, do not give up; you can see the finish line, and we have faith in you. To the lucky ones that have finished for the summer, congratulations. Enjoy the summer. You deserve it.

The 2nd is the BC/Yukon Command of the Royal Canadian Legion, awarding 3 graduation awards to veteran BCIT students. The application process is below, and all applications must be submitted by Friday, 26 May 2023.

Congratulations on almost finishing your program! It must have been a journey.
The Legion BC/Yukon annually awards students with Graduation Awards to our top military and veteran BCIT students. As the interim Military Skills Conversion program advisor, I invite you to send your documents for a chance to win one of the awards. Every year in June, two awards of $2000 each and one of $2500 are granted.
If you would like to apply, send the following documents to [email protected]:
- Your MPRR if you initially did not enter through the Military Skills Conversion program.
- Your most updated resume highlights other work experience besides the military, education, and volunteer jobs.
- Your unofficial academic transcripts
- A small blurb in the email detailing why you think you deserve the grant.
The awards will be picked by the Legion BC/Yukon team and provided directly to the students."

Well, it has been a few weeks back in class, and I just wanted to remind everyone that this semester seems to go by so fast. Do not forget about the support system and tutoring at the Library, and reach out before you need help. People are there to help you have to take the first step!!!

As the semester comes to an end, remember, you made it! Celebrate the positive, learn from the negative and use both to fuel you for next semester. Enjoy winter break, spend time with people you care about, try to avoid negativity as much as possible, and refresh for the new year. When the new year happens, anything is possible. Happy Holidays and enjoy sleeping in. You deserve it after finals!!

Its that time of year again, unfortunately, I don't mean holidays(yet) and its finals, and I have a few quick words. 1. No matter what happens this week, it's not the end of the world. There are always options to seek help or redo a class if something happens. 2. There are so many people and many options to find help and Youtube has many answers, so don't assume they are all right. Finally 3. You got this!!! I have faith that you got this now, and you just got to believe in yourself and do it too!! Sleep as well as you can, drink lots of water, carry tissues and use the bathroom before the exam!!!

So the day has finally arrived, the day we all wait for this day!!! SUPPORT PUPPIES!!!!! Thursday, Nov 24, there will be support dogs in the SE2 Great Hall and SE14 Libray from 11 am to 1 pm. This time of year becomes very stressful and can be a great way to relax.

Being a student can be exhausting!! With the end of the term, coming stress can throw you off and affect your mental and physical health. “Self-care” is something you hear about, but knowing healthy self-care may make the difference. BCIT’s https://www.bcit.ca/student-services/health-wellness/It has links to mental health advice or gym hours that can be a great stress relief and help you finish the semester strong.

With everything that has happened in the last year, we have been reminded that looking into the past can help us navigate the difficult things we experience today and tomorrow. For information on where to attend a ceremony or biography on Canadian Military personnel, please visit https://legion.ca/remembrance/remembrance-day. As well you can find locations on ceremonies and information on the poppy fund and whom they support all year.

Discover the stories of Canada's Veterans. Learn about the sacrifices they made so we could live as we do today. Their memory lives on and continues to inspire all Canadians.
