Together, we made a meaningful impact at the Free Electronics Recycling and Data Destruction Event during Earth Month 2026 at BCIT: British Columbia Institute of Technologyโ€™s Burnaby Campus. Thank you to everyone who joined us.

It was inspiring to see students, employees, local residents, and businesses come together with a shared goal: responsibly managing e-waste and protecting personal data.

Together, we achieved:
โœ… 855 lbs of electronic waste collected
โœ… Secure hard drive destruction services provided
โœ… Electronics diverted for reuse and responsible recycling

A special thank you to the Electronic Recycling Association and the Better Business Bureau of Mainland BC for partnering with us to make this event possible. Your support helps drive awareness and action toward sustainability and data security in our community.

By working together, we are not only reducing e-waste, but also building a more informed and environmentally conscious community. ๐ŸŒŽ

Great conversations, thoughtful questions, and practical takeaways defined our recent Storytelling and Personal Branding panel at BCIT.

Hosted in partnership with the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, the session brought together diverse perspectives on showing up with clarity and authenticity in an increasingly AIโ€‘shaped world. From building a strong personal narrative to navigating credibility and connection online, the discussion was insightful, honest, and highly relevant.

A big thank you to our panelists, Rashpal Ahluwalia, Peter Beresford, Brian van Sickle, and Linda Young, for sharing their experiences so generously, and to BITMAN Program Head Shauna Begley for guiding such a dynamic and engaging conversation.

We also heard from Tate Laxton-Coglon, a BCIT business student and Leaders of Tomorrow mentee, whose reflections were a great reminder of the impact mentorship and real-world exposure can have.

The 2026 BCIT News Documentary Showcase brought our community together for an evening of powerful, student-led storytelling. ๐ŸŽฅ

Featuring original documentaries from our second-year BCIT Journalism students, the showcase highlighted a wide range of stories, each grounded in thoughtful reporting and strong visual storytelling. We were pleased to have BCIT President Dr. Jeff Zabudsky open the evening, recognizing the work and dedication behind each production.

From the red carpet arrivals to the final screening, the excitement and pride in the room reflected the commitment behind every story.

We extend our sincere thanks to our students, faculty, and staff. The heartfelt stories presented are a testament to the collaboration, mentorship, and hard work that make this showcase possible.

We also want to acknowledge the individuals who so generously shared their personal experiences, as well as the industry professionals who attended in support of our students and the opportunities ahead of them.
