Thirteen university teams from Canada and the United States competed in Aviation ISAC’s 2026 Student Aviation Cyber Challenge.

BCIT students Xavier El Chantiry, Tracey Lui, and Ashwin Charathsandran, took top prize of $2100 with an early finish.

Later the same week, Xavier, Tracey, Ashwin and fellow students Kawal Kalirai and Harkaaran Kang travelled to St. Petersburg Florida to compete in the 10th Annual Raymond James Capture the Flag (CTF) Competition.

Students in the BCIT School of Business + Media’s Graphic Design program received international recognition for the prestigious International Poster Biennale – Fútbol + Art: A Path to Peace, ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

Organized by the International Poster Biennial in Mexico City, the competition invited post-secondary institutes from Canada, the United States, and Mexico to explore the theme of football and art as a pathway to peace.

BCIT graduate Alina Pak built a prototype that turns simulated vessel data into real-time environmental insights and automated emissions calculations.

As part of her capstone project for the Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science (BScACS) degree, Alina developed Suvion Systems, a web-based environmental monitoring and sustainability dashboard designed for small-vessel operators.

Through her project, Alina is helping small vessel operators improve their day-to-day operations.
