The Simon Fraser University Men's Soccer team enters the 2026 season eager to build on its foundation and capitalize on a season filled with opportunity.

Ryan Marsden has been selected to lead SFU's new men’s volleyball program as it prepares for its inaugural season in 2027-28.

A nationally recognized coach with more than 25 years of experience, Marsden has led athletes and teams at the youth, post-secondary and international levels, including coaching roles with Canada’s men’s national B and junior national team programs.

A three-time ACAC Coach of the Year and former CCAA Coach of the Year, Marsden has also played a key role in athlete development across Alberta, helping guide the province to its first-ever Canada Games gold medal in men’s volleyball.

Now, he’ll lead the launch of SFU’s newest varsity program as the university prepares to compete in Canada West and U SPORTS.

Congrats to two SFU basketball legends being recognized among Canada's sporting elite this year!

🏀 Today, SFU alumna Teresa Gabriele (Kleindienst) was inducted into the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026.

🏀 This November, SFU legend Jay Triano will receive the Order of Sport, Canada's highest sporting honour, marking his induction into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.

Their achievements span Olympic competition, national championships, international coaching success and decades of leadership that helped shape basketball in Canada.

After capturing a share of their first Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championship, posting a program-best 20-5 record, and earning a second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance in 2025, SFU enters the 2026 season ranked No. 1 in the GNAC Preseason Coaches’ Poll. With a veteran core led by GNAC Preseason All-Conference Team selections Macyn Unger and Megan Hawkins, championship ambitions, and several exciting newcomers, the team is ready to build on last year’s success.
