I went to sleep the day before mothers day asking myself if today would finally be the day I would get to become a mom. When you’re 39 weeks pregnant, eating dates, drinking raspberry leaf tea and dancing Rasputin you start to think; any moment now. I remembering asking myself, if the baby doesn’t come by mother’s day, do I still celebrate? Or because the baby isn’t born yet do I not qualify?

I woke up to roses, a spa gift card and breakfast in bed with a heart full of gratitude for a partner that never has me wondering anything too long 🤍. It reminded me that each and every day is reason enough to celebrate because the greatest gift in life is that of life itself.

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers at any stage of your journey 💕

For anyone who had faced or overcame violence, remember that it does not define you and that you can regain your sense of self once again. 💜

what I did differently & what I didn’t:

- I had been competing in pageants for over a decade; my body knows exactly how to act in these scenarios, so I competed at without any issues 👑
- I had been travelling extensively from my modelling and acting career, so I continued that until about month 5 when the fatigue started to kick in; having visited 7 different countries during this time period ✈️
- I was used to long days of work, 12-16 hour days filming, so I continued with that until my third trimester when my body told me to slow down 😴

- I am a licensed scuba diver, but the pressure from being that deep in the ocean is pretty well unstudied on pregnant woman and I wasn’t trying to be the first, I snorkelled close to the surface instead 💁‍♀️
- I would normally drink a lot of coffee or a red bull when I’m burnt out on set or in a pageant, I switched for eating more fruit and banked on sugar rush to keep me going instead 🍉
- I normally pack and load luggage for trips internationally on my own, but heavy lifting isn’t advised in pregnancy and my man packed and loaded all of my luggage for all of my travels 🧳 after the final show in Bangkok he packed all of my luggage from Miss Universe and sent all but a couple of backpacks back to Canada with my dad and brothers 🤍

stay tuned on more of my pregnancy journey as I get closer to my due date ✨

It’s funny how life can shift your perspective so completely 🤍.

Not long ago, I was in the middle of preparing for Miss Universe, carrying so many quiet worries wondering if I’d start showing, hoping no one would notice, feeling the weight of what I thought I was supposed to look like.

Now, in the homestretch of pregnancy, I find myself doing the exact opposite: embracing every change, holding this season so close, and almost hoping people do notice. Because this version of me feels fuller, softer, stronger, and somehow more beautiful than I ever expected.

It’s wild how much our image of ourselves can change depending on the season we’re in, and how often that image is shaped by what we believe society expects of us.

But sometimes, the most authentic version of ourselves is found in the very things we once tried to hide.

And maybe that’s real beauty: learning to love, celebrate, and honor every version of who we are in every season of change ✨.

With many thank yous to come, I wanted to begin with this one: thank you, & , for bringing my national costume to life so beautifully, Canada for the hi our or representing my beautiful home and Mexico for inspiring the message.

While its shape honors the maple leaf of Canada, the pattern of the monarch butterfly represents something far more personal. Monarchs are born in Canada and naturally migrate south to Mexico—mirroring my own path of leaving home to pursue my dream of modeling abroad. What once felt foreign slowly became my second home, not because of work, but because of the warmth, generosity, and kindness of the people who welcomed me.

After facing gun violence, I wasn’t sure if I’d ever model again. I wasn’t sure if I’d ever travel again or ever truly feel safe. But Mexico gave me more than opportunity—it gave me back my courage. It reestablished my faith in myself, reminded me that power lives within us, and taught me what it means to transform.

It also taught me the butterfly effect of kindness: that even the smallest act of care can lead to the most unexpected, beautiful transformations.

Representing Canada at Miss Universe means representing a nation known for kindness—but for me, it also means honoring the truth that home isn’t always a place; it’s a feeling. No matter where you are in the world, you deserve to feel safe, strong, and able to grow into the best version of yourself.

Thank you, Steph & Celena, for creating a costume filled with so much meaning and emotion.
And from the deepest part of my heart:
gracias, México, por acogerme siempre y enseñarme que el efecto mariposa de la bondad puede ser más de lo que jamás imaginé. Gracias por compartirme tu hogar y por recordarme que nuestro poder interior nunca se pierde y que siempre tenemos la capacidad de transformarnos. 🦋❤️🇨🇦🇲🇽
