Oct 29 at 5:30pm - 8pm (Remarks at 6pm)
Founders’ Gallery (The Military Museums)
Refreshments & Cash Bar

This new exhibition provides a rare and candid look at the realities faced by Canada’s Reserve soldiers when serving abroad. It revolves around a feature-length documentary film made by Colonel Michael Vernon (Retired) including interviews with troops and operational footage.

Seen alongside weapons and artefacts from the frontlines, augmented with stories of service and sacrifice, the exhibits offer an insider’s perspective on how deployed Reserve Forces fulfill the same duties as Regular Forces.

You’re invited to Lit Happens, the inaugural UCalgary Library x CDWP book club!

We’ll be discussing Wild Life by Amanda Leduc, the Calgary Distinguished Writers Program's 2026-27 Canadian writer-in-residence, as our first book.

Amanda is a disabled Canadian writer. Her books have been nominated for the Governor General’s Award in Nonfiction, the Giller Prize, and the Carol Shields Prize for Fiction. Amanda’s essays and stories have appeared across Canada, the US, and the UK, and she speaks across North America on accessibility, inclusion, and disability in storytelling.

Join us for an evening of discussion with Amanda about her novel, writing process, and upcoming work, followed by a book signing.

Pick up your copy of Wild Life from the University of Calgary Bookstore.
