The mandate of the Writing Symbols at the University of Calgary is to provide a culturally appropriate environment that encourages and supports the success of Aboriginal students in their pursuit of knowledge and higher education. The Writing Symbols provides academic, personal, and cultural support services and programs to prospective and current First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students, and offers a welcoming and supportive learning environment for the whole campus community.

Call for UCalgary 2026 Indigenous Graduation Celebration Volunteers!
Join us on Monday, June 15 to support UCalgary's Indigenous Graduation.
Come and support a beautiful celebration honouring Indigenous student success, community, and achievement. A variety of volunteer roles are available, with morning, afternoon, or full‑day shifts. Lunch will be provided, and the venue is easily accessible by train, bus, taxi, or car. Parking passes will be provided.

Join us on Monday, June 15 to support Indigenous Grad, a meaningful celebration of Indigenous student success, community, and achievement. Come be part of a beautiful event honouring Indigenous graduates and their journeys.

Open to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students.
Indigenous Wellness has added another session to the Grief Support Circle Series on April 9th from 1-3pm. This is a space to connect, share grief and loss, and engage with land-based medicines and tools that support our wellness journeys. These circles offer guidance, care, and community. Join us in the Eagle Boardroom at the Writing Symbols Lodge Office, with Elder Cindy Daniels joining this session.
