Alternative High School, Calgary The early history of the Alternative High School 1974 - 1977

The Alternative High School was established by students, parents and other interested parties in Calgary in 1975. It operated as an independent school until it was taken over by the Calgary Board of Education in 1976. This page was created by myself, Ian Mark, in 2012 to commemorate all those who attended the school and played a part in its growth from 1975-1977

A few days ago I was going over some old shots of Alice Cooper when I found some shots of the school that I had lost. I knew I had more shots around here some place. Anyway next week I will scan them and add them here.

Sorry that it took longer to get these up. I have been busy with other things in life. Anyway here are the shots of our water activity in drowning avoidance. I will be adding some more in a few days.

There are so many good shots of this outing that I want to post as many as I can. It will probably take a week to complete the task.

Greetings to all those who have been following this page. I have just added more albums including shots of trips to Spray Lake Hostel, James Reid's place at Pridis and Tylers Farm. Next week I will be adding photos featuring a Bruce Elkin's Action Studies activity on the Bow River. There are a great many photos of this outing and so that is probably all I will add next week. The following week I will add photographs of a mountaineering trip around Exshaw, also lead by Bruce. I wish I could do it faster but scanning everything I added today took about 6 hours to do. The shots of the Action Studies are very good quality and it will be hard to pick and choose. I may just scan in everything as insane as that sounds. Anyone looking at these photographs would think that the AHS only existed outdoors!
