Is your teen passionate about painting?

Painting Studio at AUArts is the perfect place to help them take their skills to the next level.

Led by experienced instructors, this week-long studio camp will improve their understanding of composition, colour theory and technique as they work on their own passion projects. Throughout the week campers will receive hands-on instruction and valuable critique sessions from both instructors and peers, allowing them to gain confidence and grow as an artist.

Spend five inspiring days exploring downtown Calgary as you learn to capture the city’s energy, architecture, and everyday moments through observational drawing. Each day will be spent in a new location, offering fresh perspectives and the chance to hone your skills in the company of fellow creatives.

Is your teen interested in animation? 🎬

In our Animation Studio Summer Camp, teens will design, storyboard, and produce their own short animation! Campers will experiment with techniques such as cutout, stop motion and pixelation through daily hands-on activities, then showcase their finished work at our Friday afternoon art exhibitions!

While this is not a digital animation course, participants will learn to use digital technologies to record and edit their animation in 2D or 3D.

“Why did you apply?”

As the first person in their family to move away for university, Pre-College gave Yuki and their family the opportunity to better understand what day-to-day life at AUArts would look like before starting first year. This “soft launch” provided a valuable introduction to studio learning, campus life and Calgary!

Our University Prep Programs help students age 16+ prepare for the transition to post-secondary. Participants build confidence in their abilities while gaining a clearer understanding of potential creative pathways and what studying art, craft & design at the university level involves.

This Fall 2026, Marcus will be joining AUArts as a new student! 🥳Through the program, they gained a better understanding of the expectations and workload of post-secondary study in the arts, allowing them to enter their first year feeling more confident and prepared.

Abstract Painting Week!

Take your abstract painting practice to the next level with five uninterrupted days in our studios! Working alongside other abstract artists, you will experiment and explore new techniques and styles using acrylic paint. Your instructor, Malcolm Mooney will lead you through both individual and group critiques designed to challenge and inspire your work.

It’s a painting party! 🥳🎨

Join us for a fun-filled week of painting and creativity at AUArts summer camps. Young artists aged 9 – 12 will explore the works of famous painters and painting styles throughout history, drawing inspiration for their own masterpieces.

Campers will learn how to mix colours and experiment with different application techniques such as monochromatic painting or using a palette knife. Be sure to check out all the finished paintings at our Friday afternoon art exhibit!

Mixed Media & Collage Week ✂

Spend a full five days in our studios experimenting with mixed media! Practice layering, mixing and building up different materials to create bold one-of-a-kind pieces. Learn about historical and contemporary artists as you practice new techniques under the guidance of your instructor. Individual and group critiques throughout the week will guide your style and push your creative thinking.

Does your teen have an eye for photography? 📸

Good photography is more than just pressing a button – it’s about composition, lighting, depth of field, and storytelling. In our Photo Studio camp for teens ages 12 – 15, campers will explore all elements of digital photography including how to use Photoshop to process their final images.

*Campers must bring their own digital camera and transfer cable to use for the week
