The Haskayne School of Business is saddened by the passing of Stephen A. Jarislowsky, a visionary philanthropist, business leader and dedicated supporter of education in Canada.
A longtime friend of Richard F. Haskayne, Mr. Jarislowsky shared his deep commitment to education, ethical leadership and the development of future business leaders. Their friendship and shared values helped establish a lasting legacy at Haskayne, one that continues to connect students with the experiences, perspectives and wisdom of leaders beyond the classroom.
In 2006, his generosity established the Jarislowsky Fellowship in Business Management, creating opportunities for Haskayne students to connect with leaders from the business, public and social sectors, engage with real-world challenges and explore the many dimensions of leadership.
Over the past 20 years, the Fellowship has welcomed 19 distinguished Jarislowsky Fellows and brought together generations of students and community leaders. Since 2015 alone, more than 1,600 MBA and EMBA students have participated in its signature Dinner and Discussion events. Today, the Fellowship facilitates an average of 300 student interactions annually, connecting students with hundreds of community leaders through meaningful conversations and shared learning.
From business ethics and governance to social responsibility, culture, diversity of thought and the challenges facing society, the Fellowship continues to reflect Mr. Jarislowsky’s belief that effective leadership requires curiosity, diverse perspectives and an understanding of the world beyond business.
We are profoundly grateful for his generosity and the vision that continues to shape the experiences of our students and the leaders they will become.
