The University of Calgary's Drs. Cathy Eastwood and Max Jajszczok are conducting research to better understand barriers and enablers to community-based private practice nursing. They are surveying nurses across Alberta, including RNs, LPNs, RPNs and NPs.
The purpose of this study is to explore regulated nurses’ interest in private practice nursing in home-based care in Alberta, the main barriers they face, and the kinds of supports, tools, mentorship, and system enablers that could make this model more feasible and sustainable. It has been approved by the University of Calgary Conjoint Health Research Ethics Board (REB26-0334).
