🌍 Maymester 2027 in Portugal!

Are you interested in a short, affordable, and memorable study-abroad opportunity? The McDougall Faculty of Business invites students to participate in Maymester 2027 for a 10-day course in Portugal, one of Europe’s most sustainable and scenic destinations!

✅ Course Name: Special Topics: Sustainable Communities and Regional Development (BUS 3850-1 or BUS 7950-3)
✅ Open to all undergraduate students & MBA students | Counts as a Business elective

Through experiential learning in Portugal, students will examine how communities, organizations, and industries balance economic development with environmental stewardship and social well-being. Topics include sustainable tourism, food and agriculture, cultural heritage, entrepreneurship, and responsible business practices.

At MFoB, we believe that learning about tourism should go beyond the classroom. In BUS 4540 / IST 6280 Tourism & Hospitality Management, we bring PEI’s tourism industry directly to our students through hands-on experiential learning.

This Fall semester, our students stepped out of the classroom and into the industry with a field trip to YYG Airport YYG Charlottetown Alexander B. Campbell Airport, Green Gables Heritage Place, and COWS COWS Creamery. They had the opportunity to explore, observe, and compare different tourism service providers and see firsthand how tourism experiences are created and delivered across the Island. 🌿✈️🍦

Thanks to the MFoB Experiential Learning Grant and the generous support of our community and industry partners, our students were able to gain valuable insights and experience beyond the classroom.

We are proud to help our students connect classroom learning with the real world, engage with our local tourism industry, and see the many possibilities within PEI’s tourism sector.

Congratulations to Rio, Christian, Harjot, and Dilna for bringing home 1st Place at the Atlantic Schools of Business (ASB) 2026 Student Case Competition, sponsored by Doane Grant Thornton! 🎉🏆

Competing against student teams from Crandall University, Cape Breton University, Dalhousie University, UNB, and Saint Mary’s University, our UPEI team demonstrated outstanding teamwork, creativity, analytical thinking, and presentation skills.

At the McDougall Faculty of Business (MFoB), we are committed to providing students with opportunities to challenge themselves, develop their skills, and compete at the regional, national, and international levels. Experiences like these help our students turn classroom learning into real-world problem-solving and leadership skills.
