Alumn35 Campaign

The College is currently engaged in a college-wide alumni engagement campaign called Alumni35 where we are looking for 35 alumni from across the different faculties to spotlight in 2023 that represent the College’s vision of graduating resilient, global citizens. Here is the campaign’s information page: https://www.douglascollege.ca/alumni35 and the application form: https://www.douglascollege.ca/givealumni/alumni/alumni35-application-form. The 35 chosen alumni will receive a cash prize of $1000, be featured in local media and recognized at a special College event in 2023.

This campaign is an important step in building a stronger alumni engagement program at Douglas which will offer immense value to each Faculty and the College as a whole. The quality of the alumni and stories was can feature as part of this campaign will help contribute to a stronger narrative for Douglas, centered around our Faculty’s great work in educating and preparing the next generation of community leaders.

The application process closes at the end of this calendar year (Dec. 31, 2022) and are hoping to have all our Faculty’s make one last strong push for candidates. Alumni can self nominate or be nominated by someone else (this includes Faculty). Please join us in supporting this campaign and in spotlighting our Douglas alumni. If you have any further questions about Alumni35 – please connect with Theresa Blancaflor directly @ [email protected].

Here is one of the testimonials from our CCS graduate:

"I am a Supports Facilitator at an agency here in Vancouver. I have been enjoying working with people and I was fortunate enough to spend some time being involved with PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) for the Classroom and Community Support Program. While I have 11 years of experience in community support and have been learning at conferences, workshops, and seminars, taking PLAR has been an excellent opportunity for me sharpen the fundamentals of my practice. One of the nice benefits is, having worked with the material in the course, the refreshment on theory that has helped me be much more effective in my leadership and practice. Over two semesters, I was able to complete the maximum amount of PLAR courses and am now in good position to complete the Diploma which provides a healthy amount of credits to transfer or broaden my education."

Many of our recent alumni missed out on their graduation ceremonies. Now it’s time for a DO-Over!

Douglas grads from Summer 2020 to Winter 2022 have been invited to our Alumni DO-Over Celebration. We’ll be hosting over 2500 alumni and their guests on June 18 for a reception at our New Westminster Campus, complete with food, photo ops in regalia and the chance to reconnect with their peers.

Over the past two years, COVID-19 stopped many of our alumni from enjoying a traditional graduation. Though this is not a formal ceremony, we’re still so excited to finally gather in person, toast their success and recognize this incredible milestone.
