When researchers at the Fisheries and Marine Institute, Memorial University, and KOLOSSAL needed to study vulnerable Antarctic sea life, they faced a major challenge: they had no dedicated research vessel. 🌊🧊

Working with partner SubC Imaging, the team turned an ordinary tourism vessel into a deep-sea exploration base. Using a custom-built drop camera system, they completed 36 underwater drops and captured 62 hours of rare footage—including the first video evidence of anchor damage to delicate polar seafloor habitats.
