Learning beyond the classroom 🩺✨

Second-year nursing students recently explored reproductive health through active learning, gaining valuable insight into abortion care and the important role nurses play in providing safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental care.

We are grateful for the opportunity to learn from those working directly in reproductive healthcare and for the meaningful conversations that help prepare our students for professional nursing practice.

Experiences like these help students connect theory with real-world practice, strengthen their understanding of patient-centred care, and build the knowledge and confidence needed to support individuals through sensitive and deeply personal healthcare experiences. 💙

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day — a time to remember those we have lost, support those who may be struggling, and remind one another of the importance of compassion, connection, and hope. 💛

This evening at 7:00 p.m., our community is invited to take part in the Annual Walk for Su***de Prevention, organized by CMHI, beginning at Corner Brook City Hall (link in the comments).

As future nurses, educators, colleagues, friends, and community members, we all have a role in creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, supported, and valued.

Together, we walk in remembrance, in support, and in hope. 💛

Today, we welcomed our students to Western Regional School of Nursing for Orientation Day, followed by the Grenfell Campus Matriculation Ceremony — marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter. 💙

We’re so happy to have you here and can’t wait to see what this year brings!

July 1 is Canada Day, but in Newfoundland and Labrador, it also marks Memorial Day.

On this day, we remember the devastation of the Newfoundland Regiment during the Battle of the Somme, near the village of Beaumont-Hamel, on July 1, 1916.

At Grenfell Campus, the Danger Tree Memorial Site, located near the Forest Centre, is dedicated to those who lost their lives at Beaumont-Hamel.

Memorial University is a living memorial, built to commemorate those who served in war and to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
