Sometimes, all it takes is looking up to remember how lucky we are to call this place home. From the beauty of the northern skies to the people who make our communities special, there's so much to be grateful for here in the Peace Region.

The colleagues who become friends. The instructors who make a lasting difference. The neighbours who lend a hand, the communities that show up for one another, and the experiences that shape us along the way.

For our NLC alumni, gratitude might also mean remembering the classmates, mentors, and opportunities that helped shape the people we are today.

We're fortunate to live, learn, work, and build our lives in a place with so much natural beauty and so many incredible people. Sometimes, it's worth taking a moment to slow down, look up, and appreciate it all. 💙

What are you grateful for about the place you call home? We'd love to hear from you in the comments!

Last week, we asked what the NLC Fall Rodeo has to do with Alumni. The answer? Quite a bit.

Meet Harold: an alumnus whose NLC journey began in our Agriculture program in 1984. Although the program has since been discontinued, the experiences and connections made at NLC became part of a much longer story, eventually leading him to become a member of the NLC Board of Governors.

Harold has built a life and career right here in the Peace Region and, along the way, rodeo has remained part of his story - both as a contestant and a judge.

As we kick things into gear for the NLC Fall Rodeo this weekend, we're also celebrating the alumni who have carried their NLC experiences into the communities, careers and passions that followed. 🤠

The first week of classes is in the books, our rodeo team has already kicked off the season, and… 🍂 fall is officially in the air at NLC!

Last weekend, our rodeo athletes headed out for their first rodeo of the season. Now, we're getting ready to welcome everyone home for the NLC Fall Rodeo on September 26 & 27! 🤠

But what does the rodeo have to do with NLC Alumni? Turns out, quite a bit. 👀

From alumni who continue to be part of the rodeo community, to stories that connect NLC's past with its present, we're taking a closer look at the people who help make NLC's story what it is.

Follow along — we'll be sharing more next week!
