The African Child and Youth Migration Network, based in the University of Alberta's Faculty of Nursing, is pleased to host a free, virtual workshop on Monday, June 5 from 9:00-10:00am.

Dr. Sophie Yohani and Lisa Cyuzuzo, a member of the Rwandan community, will share about 'Reflections on Child Wellbeing from the Perspective of Adult Survivors of the 1994 Genocide Against Tutsi of Rwanda Living in Canada'.

They will discuss perceptions of wellbeing amongst children of survivors and highlight their concerns, children's resilience, and community-identified strategies to support children's identity and sense of belonging. All students, faculty, and members of the public are welcome to attend.

The African Child and Youth Migration Network, based in the University of Alberta's Faculty of Nursing, is pleased to host a free, virtual workshop next Wednesday, January 11 from 9:00-10:00am.

Drs. Stephen Kwankye, Grace Spencer, and Jill Thompson will share about 'Promoting sustainable livelihoods: Unpacking possibilities for empowerment with young migrants in Ghana'. This workshop will discuss findings from a project focusing on the migration experiences of young migrants aged 15-24 years in Ghana in relation to their working lives and livelihoods.

The presenters will consider the possibilities for, and limitations of, empowerment for young African migrants as they continuously navigate intersecting vulnerabilities and hardships: www.youngmigrantsghana.com. At this workshop, Dr. Adeyinka Akinsulure-Smith, Ph.D., ABPP, will share her knowledge and insights on "Mental Health Research and African Immigrants: Considerations for Data Collection, Recruitment and Retention", based on her extensive experience conducting research with African migrants in various countries and contexts.
