It’s officially been one week of the David Morris Innovation Hub!🥳

Thanks to a very generous donation from David Morris,’68 BSc(MechEng), ’70 MSc, ’73 PhD, and the David Morris Family Foundation, engineering student project teams now have a home in ETLC to design, build and showcase automotive and vehicle-related projects and gain experience with hands-on learning. 🤝🛠️

Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day of reflection and learning to honour the children who never returned home, survivors of residential and day schools, and their families and communities.

In observance of the day, the University of Alberta is closed. We encourage everyone to learn more about the U of A’s ongoing work toward reconciliation through Braiding Past, Present and Future, the U of A Indigenous Strategic Plan.

Orange Shirt Day is September 30, a day to honour the thousands of children who were forcibly removed from their families and sent to Indian Residential Schools.

That’s why instructors Dr. Ania Ulrich and Torrey Dance adapted Stanford’s "Designing Your Life" course for the University of Alberta (INT D 209). The course teaches design thinking tools like prototyping, experimentation, and learning from failure to help students from all over campus plan their futures🧠😎

INT D 209 brings together students across diverse disciplines—from Engineering, Arts, Business, Computer Science, and Science—fostering community, open discussions, and empathy, all while teaching students how to engage with AI thoughtfully and intentionally💭 It's also one of six recipients of the Fall 2026 Course (Re)Design Award! 🏆

Apply now for your chance to study in the UK with the Churchill Cambridge Scholarship!! 🏫🇬🇧🙇‍♂️

The scholarship is worth $64,000 per year and is awarded to a graduate of the University of Alberta entering PhD studies at University of Cambridge. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Students now completing a BSc or MSc degree in Engineering are eligible to apply. Graduates with one or two years of experience will also be considered. The successful applicant will enter Churchill College at Cambridge University, a college that houses a concentration of engineering and science graduate students. The scholarship is normally renewed for a second and third year of study, subject to suitable progress.
