We need you to make Open House great!

Are you passionate about your studies and want to share that excitement with future UAlberta students? If the answer is yes, we would love to have you join the Faculty of Education booth at the U of A Open House! We would love for you to answer questions about your journey through the BEd program and share your experience with attendees.

This opportunity would require a minimum commitment of 3.5 hours on Saturday, October 17 at Open House, but we would love to have you join us even longer! More information & training will be provided prior to the event.

The recipients of the 2026 University of Alberta Alumni Awards were recently announced and we're excited to share that there were three KSR honorees.

The first of the three we'd like to share is Lindsay McAlpine, ’07 BPE, ’07 BEd, ’11 MA. A former Pandas Hockey athlete, she will be inducted into the Sports Wall of Fame.

Join us for an upcoming virtual information session to learn more about the program, eligibility, application process, and what to expect from our second cohort beginning in January 2027.

This fully funded, part-time graduate program is designed to support working Métis educators who want to deepen their Métis cultural knowledge, strengthen their leadership and research skills, and continue learning without stepping away from the classroom.

Participants will:
• Build Métis cultural knowledge and strengthen connections to identity through Foundational Knowledge, land-based learning, and Michif language experiences
• Develop leadership and facilitation skills through workshops, professional learning, coaching, and opportunities to support learning within schools and districts
• Apply their learning through workplace-based inquiry and a final capstone synthesis grounded in their own educational contexts

This second cohort is part of a limited initiative designed to strengthen Métis leadership in K–12 education. While no additional intakes are planned beyond these two cohorts, we are excited to welcome another group of Métis educators into the program and see what grows from their learning and leadership.
