Congratulations to Iman Mersal, professor in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies, on receiving the 2026 Cavafy Award for poetry!

The Cavafy Award is a literary prize given to distinguished writers from Greece and Egypt and is named after the Greek poet Constantine Cavafy who spent his life in Egypt. Mersal is the first Egyptian female poet to receive the award.
