"Fans are increasingly craving the story behind the score,” says Neill Fitzpatrick, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication. “Rather than just reading about Connor McDavid’s hot night or the Edmonton Elks’ latest signing, there is a strong desire for deeper analysis, richer context, and human-driven features.”
Explore the world beyond the scoreboard - the personalities, politics, culture, conflict and human stories that shape modern sport.
Taught by journalism faculty member Neill Fitzpatrick, this new Communication Studies course BCSC 399 gives students the opportunity to develop real-world reporting, interviewing, feature-writing and storytelling skills through the lends of sports media.
