University of Alberta Forest Society

University of Alberta Forest Society The official page of the University of Alberta Forest Society Welcome! The Forest Society is very active, both on and off-campus.

The Forest Society is an organization of undergraduate and graduate students interested in forestry. Our exec are current students who are studying silviculture, tree improvement, forest soils, forest ecosystems, resource use and society, wildlife biodiversity, wildland fire science, wood science, wildlife management, sustained yield, and ecology- just to name a few! This group is meant to foster

an inclusive environment and connect students, faculty members, and industry professionals with each other. The Forest Society works closely with The Alberta School of Forest Science and Management, the Faculty of ALES, and the Department of Renewable Resources to host academic events for networking and professional development. Through the Forest Society, there are many opportunities to connect with professionals and learn more about careers in forest research, technology, and the forest industry. We organize social activities, participate in conferences, networking, and other forestry-related events. Students participate annually in The Canadian Insitute of Forestry (CIF) as well as The Society American Foresters (SAF) Annual General Meetings and National Conventions. Every December we host tree sales which is one of our biggest events and fundraisers with proceeds going to the United Way and Forests Without Borders. You can find out more by sending us a message or visiting us at our office in AgFor.
