We walked into the Catholic Social Services Alberta's 2026 Education and Training Fair expecting conversations...
Instead, we walked out inspired by the community behind them!
Before the event even began, Farah Ayaad created an atmosphere that felt welcoming, genuine and full of positive energy. The way she connected with her guests, supported newcomers, and brought everyone together stood out immediately.
As the day unfolded, something became very clear. This was more than an event.
It was a room full of people searching for new beginnings; asking questions about education, careers, language support, and the next step forward for themselves and their families.
And at every table, there was someone ready to listen.
As a college, moments like these remind us why community partnerships matter so much. We may come from different organizations and roles, but we share the same purpose: helping newcomers feel supported, confident, and empowered to build a future in Canada.
Some conversations lasted five minutes. Others stayed with us long after the event ended.
Because behind every question, there was hope.
We’re grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day in Edmonton’s newcomer community as Solomon College, and we will continue doing our best to connect with and support new community members at every opportunity we have!
