Join us for a DJ-driven global dance party and boogie with Pride!

The FFAC EDIA Committee is excited to invite MacEwan staff and faculty to a DJ-driven Global Pride Dance Party to shake off the stress!

We're activating the Elder Jerry Wood Atrium’s innate “rave aesthetics” with a proper sound system, lighting, ample seating, and refreshments — so you can boogie with Pride after work and avoid rush hour.

DJ Doctor Deejay (aka FFAC’s own Maren Hancock, a professional DJ with 25+ years of experience) will spin dance music from around the world, shaped by song requests from guests.

Designed with staff and faculty in mind — but everyone is welcome, including students!

Date: Thursday, March 12
Time: 5:30-7:30pm
Location: Elder Jerry Wood Atrium (on the main floor of Allard Hall, across from the Roundhouse).

In March each year, the MacEwan Centre for Sexual and Gender Diversity hosts Pride Week, celebrating the diversity of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and allies.

This awareness-raising and celebratory week aims to create and support a safe and welcoming environment for everyone in the university community, and build bridges to the broader Edmonton community.

Join us for informative workshops and panels, hangouts, shows and dance parties—participate in a variety of events during Pride Week!

This year’s theme is “Q***r Realities.” You might be seeking joy, community and connection. You might be feeling rage or frustration at the world around you. Probably both.

YEG Campus Pride Week is a collaboration with the YEG Campus Pride Network (.institute ) to bring our community an exciting week of learning, community and fun!

The Mitchell Art Gallery (MAG) is recruiting volunteers for ArtBus on Saturday, March 21 from 12 – 5 p.m.

Volunteer support is needed with gallery monitoring, craft support, bus volunteers, and general atrium support!

If you are interested, reach out to Theo Donovan for more information at [email protected].

Student volunteers will be prioritized for this opportunity.

If you’re not familiar with ArtBus, it is a one-day event where we charter 3 specially wrapped ETS buses to shuttle people between art galleries downtown in a continuous loop. People can hop on or off the bus when they choose, starting at Allard Hall

ArtBus is generously supported by Scott and Kathy Watson. We gratefully acknowledge Edmonton Transit Service for partnering with the Mitchell Art Gallery to support the bus charter for this event.

February is Black History month! Join us and MacEwan's Office of Human Rights .humanrights for a special edition of Art Buffet on Wednesday, February 4 from 12 - 5 p.m. Learn about various historic and contemporary Black visual artists that have shaped the art world as we know it today.

At this week's Art Buffet, create a Faith Ringgold inspired collage - using various drawing and collage tools, create a personal story quilt collage by combining patterned squares with an illustration of an important memory.

The Art Buffet is the Mitchell Art Gallery’s own “art hive”, a concept developed over two decades of research by Dr. Janis Timm-Bottos rooted in ideas of art therapy and inclusivity. We invite you to join us and explore your creativity in a welcoming space for all that encourages mental-wellness. The Art Buffet is free, materials are provided, and no prior art experience is necessary. All are welcome - you don't have to be a MacEwan student to join us!

Being Indigenous in Academia is a gathering hosted by the Indigenous Research Group (IRG), grounded in story, relationship, and lived experience. Our Indigenous panelists will share what it’s like to move through academic spaces—what helps them thrive, the barriers they’ve faced, and the ways they stay connected to community, responsibility, and culture while doing their work.
Together, we’ll reflect on themes like belonging, identity, mentorship, navigating institutions, balancing research and creative practice, and creating safer, more supportive spaces for Indigenous learners and scholars. Time will be set aside for audience questions and conversation.
