Come attend our Introduction to Research Night on November 4 at 5:00 pm!

This is an event cohosted by the BSDA, PSA, IMINSA, and BCSA to provide undergraduate students with information on how to get involved in research on-campus. Whether students are interested in summer studentships or research courses, we will discuss all the "how-to"s!

Our guest presenters will be describing their experiences in research and the steps they took to get there. Following presentations, there will be question periods for students to inquire about their questions/concerns.

Interested? RSVP on BearsDen using the link in our bio!

The BSDA, BCSA, PSA, and IMINSA look forward to seeing you there!

BSDA 2022-2023 executive nominations!

My name is Areeha, and I am running to be BSDA’s next President. I am a Biology major and English minor going into my third year for the 2022-2023 academic year. I currently hold leadership positions on campus, including Vice-President of Marketing for the University of Alberta’s Heart & Stroke Foundation Students’Association, as well as the News Editor for The Gateway.
This year as BSDA’s Vice-President Internal, I have worked to maintain smooth communications within the association. My duties included creating meeting agendas, sending out monthly newsletters, and undertaking administrative responsibilities. Through this, I have attempted to increase communication between the BSDA and Biology students.
Next year, I will work towards fostering a strong on-campus community for Biology students, while ensuring opportunities remain virtually accessible to students off-campus. This will include continuing successful events held by the BSDA, such as the Speaker Series Event and Grad School 101. Additionally, this will mean building on the strong foundation created by current BSDA executives to kickstart new events introduced by the current team, such as a faculty and student mixer. Feel free to email me at [email protected] with any questions, and I look forward to your support on March 30th.

BSDA 2022-2023 Executive nominations!

My name is Emma Kornel (she/her) and I am currently enrolled in a Double Major in Biology and Chemistry. I am very passionate about genetics as well as inorganic and analytical chemistry. I have years of prior volunteer experience, ranging from student clubs and community work, to a music festival, where I have now worked my way up to a manager position.  My goal is to help foster a fun, supportive and educational environment for the Biology department’s entire student body, both in the classroom and in other parts of campus life. I would not only be well suited to the position, but also would be enthusiastic and grateful to put both my volunteer experience and my academic passions to your service as VP Internal.
