It was a pleasure to bring together more than 110 attendees and 20 speakers for Fifty Years of All of Baba’s Children: A Symposium, held at MacEwan University💙💛

On July 11, scholars, writers, artists, students and community members gathered to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Myrna Kostash and reflect on the lasting impact of All of Baba’s Children. Conversations explored Ukrainian Canadian identity, literature, public memory, belonging, truth and reconciliation, and the ways stories continue to connect generations and communities.

The symposium concluded with a community celebration at the ACUA Alberta Council for the Ukrainian Arts and a cultural tour through east-central Alberta, connecting the ideas discussed throughout the symposium with the places and communities that helped shape the book.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and helped make the symposium such a meaningful gathering.

A sincere thank you to our generous sponsors: Shevchenko Foundation Ukrainian Canadian Veterans Fund, St. John’s Legacy Foundation, TYC-Ukrainian Self Reliance Association of Canada- Edmonton Branch, The Ed Stelmach Community Foundation, Ukrainian Foundation for College Education (UFCE), UFCE Trust, Alberta Ukrainian Commemorative Society (AUCS), Ukrainian Pioneers Association of Alberta, Don'ya Ukraine’s Kitchen and Edmonton Community Foundation.
