Surry Community College will host an open house on April 3 from 4–7 p.m. in the Gymnasium on the Dobson campus.

Prospective students and their families can meet instructors, tour classrooms, and explore student resources. Admissions, Financial Aid, the Purpose Center, student clubs, and Surry Knights Athletics will be represented. The science division will offer activities while supplies last. The Spring Fine Arts Show will also be held in the J-Building, second floor.

Surry Community College will host an open house on April 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. on the Dobson campus for prospective students and their families. The event will be held, rain or shine, in the Gymnasium on Surry Community College's Dobson campus.

College Open House participants can enter a drawing to win a $500 scholarship from the Surry Community College Foundation.

The Spring Fine Arts Show will be taking place simultaneously in the J-Building on the second floor.

The following tours will be offered at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. The tours will begin in the gym.

Exploring Genetics in Agriculture

Monday, March 3 at noon at Surry Community College’s Grand Hall, 630 South Main St, Dobson, NC

The Science Division at Surry Community College is pleased to announce our next speaker: Dr. Mark Knauer, Associate Professor and Extension Swine Specialist from NCSU.
Dr. Knauer will discuss how his applied research program has worked to improve the profitability and sustainability of pig farmers in North Carolina and throughout the world.
His talk is entitled "Enhancing the profitability of NC pig farmers through an applied research program." The presentation is open to the public and we welcome anyone who is interested to attend.

April is the North Carolina Science Festival, a month-long celebration of science. This year we will have TWO on-campus events.

On April 3, the Science Division will have some hands-on activities at the Surry Community College Open House from 4:30-7pm.

On April 4, the SCC Library will host a Daytime Star Party
with members of the Forsyth Astronomical Society from 2:30-4:30pm. It doesn't have to be dark to see the moon!

Come to the next Science Seminar January 30 at 11am!

As part of a series of science seminars, the Sciences Division of Surry Community College is hosting a seminar with Meadow Creek Dairy, on Thursday, Jan. 30.

Meadow Creek Dairy is a seasonal grass dairy located in Galax, Va., that specializes in farmstead cheese. In their presentation titled, “Meadow Creek Dairy: Cheesemaking and Farm Management at a Local Farmstead Grazing Dairy,” representatives will speak on the process of cheesemaking and the related management of the pastures and herd.

The presentation will be held on the Dobson Campus in room A-121 from 11 a.m. to noon. There is no fee to attend, and the presentation is open to SCC students and the public.

Science Seminar is today at 12:30 pm in the A-Auditorium of the Dobson campus!

As part of a series of science seminars, the Sciences Division of Surry Community College is hosting a seminar with speaker Dr. Josh Edwards, physical therapist and owner of North Bridge Physio, on Thursday, Nov. 21.

Dr. Josh Edwards will speak on his educational and career paths in a presentation titled, “From Surry Community College to Career Success: My Journey to Becoming a Physical Therapist and Business Owner.” Edwards is a graduate of SCC and the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at Winston-Salem State University.

The presentation will be held on the Dobson Campus in room A-121 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. There is no fee to attend, and the presentation is open to SCC students and the public.

Surry Community College alumna Megan Stanley is attending the University of Florida in the Medical Physiology and Pharmacology Program.

“I just loved learning,” Stanley says. “I actually love so many subject areas, but I especially loved my SCC science and math courses, and I like the idea of going further.”
