At the University of New Brunswick - Fredericton and Saint John -
our students have the opportunity to integrate an international
experience into their studies. An international experience can provide significant impact on both
your personal, professional and career development. Your experience
abroad will teach you many valuable skills that you can use in your
future career. Among these are indep

endence, resourcefulness,
language and communication skills, appreciation and sensitivity to
cultural differences and learning environments as well as coping
skills. You will learn to navigate effectively across different cultures, and
gain first-hand knowledge of global, international, and regional
issues through your experiences, while developing friends and
networks worldwide. Prior to leaving New Brunswick, the Student Abroad Program will help
you identify skills and personal, academic or professional objectives
that you would like to gain while living abroad. Upon return, we will
help you identify and review these skills and work with you on how
to best apply them. Canada’s economy relies on healthy relationships with international
business partners, and cosmopolitan graduates are likely to stand
out in the competition for rewarding jobs and careers. Exchanges,
internships, co-op placements, short-term programs, field courses,
research, projects and practicums fall under the Student Abroad
Programs. Financial assistance for these opportunities may be
available – please check your campus Student Abroad Program
website for more details. Gaining an international experience is an investment, and the
benefits are invaluable. To learn more about our program please

🌏 UNB Student Abroad Fair 2025

We’re thrilled to highlight the success of our second annual UNB Student Abroad Fair, held last month — an event designed to inspire students to explore global learning opportunities and connect with our vibrant international community.

The fair created a welcoming space for students to discover international study options, meet incoming exchange students, and hear firsthand stories from UNB students who have studied abroad.

To make the experience even more engaging, we introduced interactive game stations such as Guess the Flags, Global Fun Facts, and the Korean Ddakji game — turning global learning into a fun, interactive, and memorable experience.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped strengthen our supportive and globally minded community at UNB. We look forward to continuing to support students as they explore the world through international education!

Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg Delegation Visit 🇩🇪🤝🇨🇦

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg (H-BRS) as part of a unique project funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service).

This initiative, proposed by H-BRS, aims to further develop collaboration, research, and mobility opportunities between H-BRS and UNB. We’re excited to see how this partnership continues to grow and strengthen in the years ahead!

Last Wednesday, we hosted our Exchange Student Social!🥳Incoming exchange students, future and previous outgoing UNB exchange students, and our First and Second-tier Global Ambassadors came together to connect with like-minded peers.✨

Future outgoing students had the chance to chat with peers from their host country or university, as well as students who had previously studied there, gaining valuable insights and advice. This event is held every semester to create opportunities for exchange students to meet, share experiences, and build international connections.🌍

🌏 Thailand Field School | June 13–22, 2025

Eight UNB students took part in an enriching academic and cultural experience through the Thailand Field School, hosted in collaboration with the Department of Chemical Engineering at Burapha University in Chonburi province — a stunning region along Thailand’s east coast 🌴.

Led by UNB’s professor, Dr. Wilailak Chanklin, the program included a series of field visits 🧪 that gave students a closer look at local industries, environmental practices, and innovative research in chemical engineering.

Beyond academics, students had the chance to immerse themselves in Thai culture 🍜 and explore the vibrant communities and natural beauty of the region 🌅.

This unique opportunity highlights the power of global partnerships 🌐 in creating transformative learning experiences for our students.

What a night in Fredericton! 🌟 Last Thursday, we started with a walk along the river 🌊🚶‍♂️—pointed out local hotspots 📍—and grabbed a group photo 📸 before heading to the Garrison Night Market 🌙. The Garrison District was buzzing with artisan vendors 🛍️, tasty street food 🍴, live music 🎶, and warm summer vibes ☀️✨. It was the perfect way to welcome our exchange students 🌍 and soak in the city’s energy! 💫

🇰🇷✨ From bustling Seoul to heritage-rich Daegu, Kira’s visit to three of our incredible partner universities — Korea University and Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul (open to all genders), and Kyungpook National University (KNU) in Daegu — included meetings with their international teams to plan exciting new strategies to boost mobility between our schools. 🗺️🤝 The trip also included dormitory tours, a glimpse into daily campus life, and a warm welcome from Eun Bin, a KNU exchange student who will be joining UNB this fall.

One special highlight? 🍜 Kira shared lunch with Matéa, a UNB outgoing exchange student who spent the 2024–2025 academic year at Rikkyo University in Tokyo 🇯🇵. Matéa stopped in South Korea before returning home and will be joining us as one of our First-Tier Global Ambassadors this year! 🌟

Every stop on this journey was a step toward strengthening partnerships and bringing even more global experiences to UNB students. ✈️❤️
