Meet Francis! 🎓

Francis graduated from Confederation College’s Greenstone Campus in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program and went on to dedicate 10 years to caring for others at Geraldton District Hospital. Building on the skills and experience he gained through his education and healthcare career, Francis has since taken an exciting new direction. Today, he serves as the Health and Safety Coordinator for Cloutiers Contracting, helping promote workplace safety and employee well-being.

💙 Francis’s journey is a powerful example of how education can open doors to diverse career opportunities, from healthcare to workplace health and safety.

Meet Trish! 🎓

Trish graduated from Confederation College’s Geraldton Campus in the Personal Support Worker (PSW) program in December 2009. Following graduation, she began her career at Geraldton District Hospital, where she worked for approximately two years before gaining additional experience in long-term care (LTC) in Thunder Bay. Today, Trish proudly serves as the Manager for Municipal Law Enforcement for the Municipality of Greenstone!

🎓 Trish’s journey is a wonderful example of how education can open doors to new opportunities, support career growth, and help individuals make a difference in their communities.

Shortly after graduation, she secured full-time employment with Geraldton District Hospital, where she has built an impressive career supporting patients and contributing to her community.

Today, Confederation College Greenstone Campus recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Today is a time to listen, learn, reflect, and remember the children who never returned home from residential schools, the Survivors, their families, and communities who continue to carry the impacts of this history.

We honour the strength and resilience of Indigenous Peoples and recognize the importance of continuing the work of reconciliation through education, understanding, respect, and meaningful action.

Confederation College is launching the 2026 Board of Governors election process, and students are encouraged to get involved. Serving as a student representative is a meaningful way to contribute to College governance and ensure student perspectives are heard at the highest level.

Throughout September, our College community is invited to come together to learn, reflect and honour Residential School Survivors.

From September 18 to 30, Confederation College, Negahneewin, SUCCI and OASA will host a series of Truth and Reconciliation events, including a film screening, virtual speaker series, Apiwin Fall Feast, Indigenous Art Encounter and Orange Shirt Day activities.

There are many opportunities to listen, learn and take part. We encourage students and employees to join us throughout the month.
