Kheiron College of Equine Therapy Kheiron College of Equine Therapy is a new school with new ideas in the approach to Equine Performance Therapy.

To offer a well-rounded and thorough diploma program for students wishing to follow a career in Equine Performance Therapy. Based in Aldergrove, British Columbia, we aim to provide an all-round and in depth education in the field of Equine Therapy. This is a 12-month part time diploma program in "Equine Performance Therapy". The home of Kheiron College is at Silver Star Stables in Aldergrove, a lush 20-acre equine haven home to approximately 30 horses and a donkey!

Day 10: Last day of class!!! Tomorrow is written exams and Saturday is practical exams. Today the students worked on horses blind fold to trust their feel and use their hands instead of their eyes. We had lots of AHAAAA moments, itā€™s a really strong session.

I wanted to pull these 3 photos out of the group as they are really interesting and important if youā€™re riding and starting young horses.

The first 2 pics are of a thoracic vertebrae of a deer. The piece that is not attached is a growth plate. These growth plates do not fuse till horses are 6 or in some cases (depending on bone location) 8 years old. The third picture you can see the growth plate is fusing but is still open.

Starting horses too young or asking too much of them too soon and we damage these growth plates. Once fused there is no way to UNDO that damage.
