A fantastic last day! Starting with A Walk in the Forest at Lost Shoe Creek with Jadyn and Wes from where we saw examples of restoration at work. A lunch break at Big Beach in Ucluelet, the views were great - even a strong enough signal for some Olympic hockey. We then visited with Dave and James to learn about their salmon hatchery work. Thank you for an incredible week.

We are excited to welcome Giselle to the department this fall!

New Scholar Alert: Giselle Schmitz

Giselle will begin her PhD studies in the Department of Geography, Environment and Geomatics with Dr. Jennifer Silver.

In this role, she will work with partners to understand how policies around fisheries management have impacted who can participate in – and benefit from – fisheries, with the goal of supporting equity for fish harvesters and the community. After completing her doctoral studies, Giselle will continue to work towards innovative community based-sustainable resources management strategies.

We are so excited to have you joining us Giselle and cannot wait to see everything you accomplish!
