Congratulations to Drs. Alexis Fabricius (Psychology) and Megan De Roover (Office of Teaching and Learning), receipts of this year's Learning Enhancement Fund.

Their research will examine how students interpret instructors' expectations, navigate differing AI policies across courses and make decisions about acceptable AI use in their academic work.

IDEV2600 (Health Politics and Policy in a Global Context).
Instructor: Dr. Carmen Ho.
The course introduces students to the impact of politics and policies on health outcomes worldwide. Students explore the ways in which the social determinants of health, as well as national governments and international institutions, affect health disparities between and within countries. In addition, the course highlights how international development priorities and aid architectures can affect the capacity of governments to improve population health. The course will take place on Tuesdays/Thursdays from 2:30-3:50, has no specific prerequisites and is available to students from all programs.

IDEV4600 (Advocating and Effecting Change in Development Policy and Practice).
Instructor: Dr. Jasmin Hristov.
This course aims to equip students with the knowledge and understanding needed to bring about changes in policy and practice for inclusive and sustainable development within government, civil society organizations and the private sector. The course examines the actions and processes through which changes in policy and practice take place, and the barriers that need to be overcome in order to effect such changes. Fourth-year students who do not meet the prerequisites are welcome to take the course.

Drs. Evan Fraser and Maria G. Corradini will lead Food Systems in Crisis: An Experiential Learning Pilot, a new high-intensity course that combines food systems science, crisis simulation and AI-supported learning.

Happy ! We are happy to celebrate the contributions and achievements of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, and the progress made toward a more inclusive and equitable environment at U of G. 🌈😍🏫

Throughout the month of June, we’ll be highlighting some of the important CSAHS research that helps create a welcoming campus community, while also acknowledging the challenges that 2SLGBTQI+ people face daily.

We want to emphasize the importance of acceptance, diversity, and love, and the collective responsibility we share in creating a space where everyone feels valued and a true sense of belonging.

Today marks the start of National Indigenous History Month! This month is an opportunity to learn about the depth and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities, cultures, languages, and worldviews.

Something that we plan to do as a College within U of G, is acknowledge Canada’s ongoing colonialism and recognize the persistent systemic discrimination that Indigenous families and communities experience.

Throughout June, we will share the ongoing work that CSAHS researchers who aim to help better understand or address concerns that indigenous people still face today.
