Kinu’s Jordynn Bernard was honoured to attend the 2026 Indspire Awards Gala alongside her father, Robert Bernard, celebrating Indigenous excellence, leadership, and the incredible achievements of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples from across Turtle Island. ✨

It was inspiring to witness so many powerful stories being recognized and uplifted in our own home territory here in Kjipuktuk/Halifax. Kinu Tourism Project had a wonderful time attending the Spiekne’katik Career Fair! 🪶

Wela’liek to everyone who stopped by our table to chat about Indigenous tourism, education opportunities, student experiences, and the exciting work happening through Kinu at MSVU. It was great connecting with community members, students, and future leaders while sharing pathways in tourism, hospitality, and cultural learning. 🌿

We always appreciate the opportunity to build relationships and celebrate Mi’kmaw excellence in our communities. Safe travels to everyone who joined us throughout the day! 🧡

✨ Kinu Tourism Project had an amazing time attending the Faculty Advising Fair on May 8th, 2026!

Wela’lioq to everyone who stopped by our table to learn more about Indigenous tourism, Mi’kmaw perspectives in hospitality, and the incredible opportunities within the Kinu and MSVU. 🌿🪶

It was wonderful connecting with students, faculty, and community members while sharing conversations around culture, education, and tourism.

Our time together will begin with opening remarks, followed by a drop-in, interactive space where community can move, learn, and reflect at their own pace. Throughout the Atrium, there will be opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations around awareness, remembrance, and advocacy.

Explore stations that invite reflection on identity and language, view films, contribute to collective art, write postcards to decision-makers, and take part in hands-on learning rooted in truth and storytelling.

This gathering is a space to come together — to listen, to honour, and to carry forward the voices and experiences of our people.

In honour of Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls & Two-Spirit+ relatives, the Kinu Tourism Project is holding a meaningful giveaway to uplift and celebrate Mi’kmaw creators and community.

On Thursday April 16, 2026, the Kinu Tourism Project Team had the honour of facilitating a workshop at the Girls Conference centered on connection, expression, and strength 🌿✨

Together, we stepped outside onto campus to forage cedar, grounding ourselves in the land and the teachings it carries. The girls then brought their voices to life through art—sharing their own interpretations of love and courage in powerful, creative ways.

It was a beautiful reminder that our stories, our expressions, and our relationships with the land are all connected. We’re so grateful to have held space for these young leaders to reflect, create, and uplift one another 💛🪶

Kinu Tourism Project was proud to be part of the NSITEN Conference—an inspiring few days of learning, connecting, and giving back through volunteering 🤝✨

We were honoured to attend the Awards Gala, celebrating the incredible achievements within our communities, and to experience powerful live performances by Alan Syliboy and the Thundermakers and Aaron Googoo 🎶🪶

Moments like these remind us of the strength of our culture, the importance of community, and the bright future of Indigenous tourism. Wela’liek to everyone who made it so special! 💙🧡

🌎✨ Happy Earth Day from the Kinu Tourism Project ✨🌎

For generations, the Mi’kmaq have lived in deep relationship with the land—guided by respect, balance, and responsibility. This isn’t a new way of thinking, it’s a way of life. Our people have always stewarded these lands and waters in harmony, taking only what is needed and giving thanks in return.

Today, we honour those teachings and the knowledge carried by our Elders. As we continue our work through Kinu Tourism, we are reminded that caring for the land is not just a responsibility—it’s a connection to who we are.
Let’s walk gently, listen deeply, and protect what protects us. 🌿🪶
